Choose a specific part of the book to grow
“More leads” is too broad to guide a campaign. Define the line, service area, and customer situation you want to pursue. For a home insurance campaign, that might be owner-occupied homes within a defined region and within the agency’s current carrier appetite.
Write down the situations you cannot handle as well. Review current restrictions through your carrier and agency channels. A marketing filter can help narrow an audience, but eligibility still depends on the actual risk and underwriting process.
Give each channel a clear role
Customer introductions, professional relationships, inbound website inquiries, and purchased leads start with different levels of context. A referral may arrive with an introduction. A quote-form lead may require reconstructing what the shopper requested. An email reply gives you the written conversation that prompted interest.
Track the source without assuming every person from that source behaves the same way. Use consistent stages and outcome definitions across channels so you can see which programs fit your agency’s workflow.
- Growth focus: the line and homeowner profile.
- Territory: where the agency can serve the opportunity.
- Offer: the specific conversation the email invites.
- Ownership: who responds and who prepares the quote.
- Budget: provider spend, setup, and internal capacity.
- Review: when results will be evaluated and by which measures.
Match the lead format to staffed capacity
A live call requires someone ready to answer at that moment. An email conversation allows a written exchange, but still needs a responsible person and timely follow-through. A low-friction purchase process is not enough if your team cannot work the resulting format.
Homefield sends agency-approved emails and delivers qualified homeowner replies exclusively to your agency. It is a home insurance email program, not a standalone auto lead source or a live-transfer service. Review the email lead workflow before comparing it with other formats.
Test the process as well as the provider
Before launch, walk a sample inquiry through assignment, information collection, quoting, and follow-up. Make sure the producer knows where to find the original message and how to record a next action. Agree on who covers replies when that person is away.
During the trial, record operational misses separately from source issues. “Never contacted” suggests a different fix from “outside current carrier appetite.” A quoted opportunity that chooses another agency is a different outcome again.
Scale the part that is working
Increase spending only when you can explain why additional opportunities are likely to be workable. Stable assignment, relevant inquiries, and completed quotes give you a stronger basis than a handful of early wins. Show unresolved opportunities and include setup costs in the initial review.
Homefield’s insurance lead overview links the key product details, while the policy-cost calculator helps test your own budget assumptions.
